Teaching Assistant Professor of Portuguese

The Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is currently seeking applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor of Portuguese. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 3/3 course load of language and culture classes and participating in departmental service.
Appointment begins July 1, 2020. This is a 3-year appointment with benefits and the possibility for renewal.

Educational Requirements
Ph.D. in Lusophone studies, Romance Studies, or related field at time of employment
Qualifications and Experience
Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese and English is required. Candidates are expected to present a record of teaching excellence at the university level for at least one year, including a demonstrated or potential ability to teach students of diverse experiential and intellectual backgrounds.
The ability to teach Spanish as well as Portuguese is preferred but not required.
