O Departamento de História da Universidade de Elmhurst (Elmhurst, Illinois, EUA) convida para a apresentação de candidaturas para uma vaga de Professor(a) em Regime de Tempo Integral na área de estudos do Mundo Atlântico, com foco na América Latina. A posição terá início em agosto de 2025. As responsabilidades incluem ministrar oito cursos por ano, abrangendo temas como história mundial, América Latina, geografia mundial, um seminário de primeiro ano, e disciplinas avançadas que podem ser associadas aos Estudos Latinos, Estudos de Género e/ou Estudos de Raça e Etnia. São incentivadas candidaturas de especialistas em áreas transnacionais, comparativas ou globais, com foco em género, raça, desenvolvimento económico, império, diplomacia e/ou migração.

The Department of History at Elmhurst University invites applicants for a Full-time Lecturer in the Atlantic World with an emphasis on Latin America. Responsibilities will begin August 2025. The successful candidate will teach eight courses a year, including surveys in world history and Latin America, an introductory course in world geography, a First-Year Seminar, and upper-level courses that can be cross-listed with Latino Studies, Gender Studies, and/or Race and Ethnicity Studies. Candidates with expertise in transnational, comparative, or global fields that focus on gender, race, economic development, empire, diplomacy, and/or migration are especially encouraged to apply.

The Department does not use teaching assistants, but most history courses are capped at 24 students. Classes may meet during day or evening hours. A lecturer is a full-time faculty member whose primary responsibility is teaching. Lecturers have renewable one-year contracts and are eligible for promotion. Although a PhD in History is preferred, ABD candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions

  • Responsibilities for this position include course preparation, teaching, grading, being available to students who have questions or require assistance, and advising students for course registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in history preferred; ABD considered.
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments for a diverse student body.
  • Ability to teach in-person courses on Elmhurst University’s campus. This is not a remote position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in history.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
