Encontra-se aberto concurso para seleção de um pesquisador para auxiliar o Professor Gareth Jones e a Dra. Mara Nogueira, do Centro da América Latina e Caribe (London School of Economics and Political Science), com o projeto "Engineering food: infrastructure exclusion and 'last mile' delivery in Brazilian favelas", financiado pela British Academy. O projeto é uma colaboração com o Insper em São Paulo e faz parte do programa "The British Academy Urban Infrastructures of Well-Being".

O candidato selecionado desenvolverá pesquisa qualitativa em São Paulo e Belo Horizonte, incluindo entrevistas e observação dos participantes com moradores das favelas, entrevistas com formuladores de políticas públicas, empresas privadas e grupos de reflexão; e realizará a troca de conhecimentos através de artigos de revisão pelos pares, apresentações de workshops e conferências, blogs e mídias sociais.

É exigido um doutorado em Antropologia, Sociologia ou Geografia, ou outra ciência social relacionada; habilidades metodológicas comprovadas (qualitativas) e a familiaridade com pesquisas sobre questões urbanas no Brasil.

A fluência em português do Brasil é essencial.

This is a part time appointment  working 29.75 hours per week for a fixed term of 15 months 

Applications are invited for the position of Research Officer (British Academy Urban Infrastructures of Well-Being), to assist Professor Gareth Jones and Dr Mara Nogueira, at the Latin America and Caribbean Centre, with The British Academy-funded project, ‘Engineering food: infrastructure exclusion and ‘last mile’ delivery in Brazilian favelas’. The project is a collaboration with Insper in São Paulo and forms part of The British Academy Urban Infrastructures of Well-Being programme. 

The post-holder will develop the qualitative research in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, including interviews and participant observation with favela residents, interviews with policy-makers, private companies and think-tanks, and undertake knowledge exchange through peer review papers, workshop and conference presentations, blogs and social media. 

The Research Officer is expected to have completed a PhD in Anthropology, Sociology or Geography, or another related social science, proven methodological skills (qualitative) which demonstrate the capacity to conduct original and rigorous research and familiarity with research about urban issues in Brazil

Fluency in Brazilian Portuguese is essential.
