Esta conferência internacional irá explorar criticamente as encruzilhadas da arte social e seu potencial para interagir e produzir mudanças políticas e sociais, mantendo um ponto de vista integrado das artes e da academia. É organizado conjuntamente pela ICNOVA / NOVA - FCSH; IHA / NOVA-FCSH; CIEBA / FBAUL; VICARTE - FBAUL (Portugal); AiRS e Skövde Art Museum (Suécia).

A data limite para apresentação de propostas é dia 15 de julho de 2019.

What will be? Strategies, practices and performances in social arts

International Conference
Lisboa, 21-22 October 2019

Call is open from 25 June until 15 July 2019.

​This international conference critically explores crossroads of social art and its potential to interact and produce political and social change and yet maintain integrity from the point of view of the arts and the academy. It is jointly organised by  ICNOVA/ NOVA - FCSH;  IHA/NOVA- FCSH; CIEBA/FBAUL; VICARTE – FBAUL (Portugal); AiRS and Skövde Art Museum (Sweden).

The international conference aims to bring together members of the scientific and artistic community in different areas and different geographies to reflect on this theme in an experimental perspective of new formats of conference bringing together artistic and / or research work.

What will be? Conference will have the participation of invited speakers along with a group of panels sessions, two performances and one workshop.

The proposed topics for interdisciplinary discussions are:

  • case studies of community arts, artistic activist practices, citizen artistic practices, public art
  • social changes through arts: political and ethics issues
  • performances and activism
  • museums relationship with local communities
  • social arts methodologies

We invite scholars, curators, researchers, and graduate students working in the field of arts to submit proposals according to the Call for Papers Topics and Editorial Policies.

The call for papers will be divided in two moments:

  • 15th July – deadline for the submission of abstracts. 30th July – Notification of acceptance   
  • 20th October – deadline for the submission of full texts. 20th November – Notification of acceptance

The participants should follow the Editorial Policies and the Editorial Guidelines.
