Call for Papers: III International Colloquium on Agrarian History
Conflict in Rural Society and Local/National Politics

The Centro de Estudios de Historia Agraria de América Latina (CEHAL), the journal Historia Agraria de América Latina (HAAL) and the history departments of the Federal University of the State of Río de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), invite proposals for papers to be presented at the III International Colloquium on the Agrarian History of Latin America, which will take place online on 29 and 30 March 2021, in association with the V Latin American Meeting of Rural Studies, which will take place from 31 March until 2 April 2021.

The main theme of the Colloquium is conflict in rural society and its impact on local and national politics. It aims to promote dialogue on theoretical-methodological perspectives and historiographical debates with respect to the different expressions of conflict in the rural societies of Latin America. We invite researchers to present papers on political, social, cultural or environmental history that contribute to the study of conflict in rural society and its political impact, focusing on any period or geographical area of Latin America. Papers may be presented in Spanish, Portuguese or English. 

Those interested in presenting at the Colloquium should send: 

• An abstract (300 words), including the problem or research question, focus, principal argument and contribution of the research.
• A brief CV (one page), including contact details, institutional affiliation, areas of research specialism and a list of recent publications.

Deadline for proposals: 30 January 2021
Communication of the proposals selected: 10 February 2021
Deadline for completed papers: 20 March 2021

Presenters will be invited to submit their papers to Historia Agraria de América Latina (HAAL), an academic journal published by the Centro de Estudios de Historia Agraria de América Latina [ www.cehal.cl ]. The purpose of HAAL (ISSN 2452-5162) is to promote and disseminate research and interdisplinary debate on the rural societies of Latin America and the Caribbean. HAAL publishes articles in Spanish, Portuguese and English, which must be original works that are not undergoing a process of evaluation at any other journal.
