Hispania, a revista oficial da Associação Americana de Professores de Espanhol e Português (AATSP), convida à submissão de manuscritos originais inéditos sobre Humanidades Digitais em Espanhol e Português. Esta edição especial da Hispania busca detalhar as interseções entre Humanidades Digitais e Línguas Modernas.

Os tópicos podem incluir, mas não estão limitados a:

• O impacto dos estudos digitais ou exemplos de projetos digitais
• Desafios e abordagens críticas à hegemonia da língua inglesa nas comunicações digitais
• Ensino de cursos de humanidades digitais em departamentos de Línguas Modernas (habilidades, ferramentas, métodos)
• Desafios e estudos de caso na implementação de metodologias de humanidades digitais em contextos hispânicos, lusófonos e imediatos (leitura à distância, mineração de texto, modelação temática, edição digital, mapeamento, visualização, etc.)
• O papel das Línguas Modernas na criação de certificados gerais de humanidades digitais nos níveis de graduação e pós-graduação
• Humanidades digitais e o envolvimento da comunidade

A Dra. Megan Jeanette Myers (Iowa State University, co-editora), a Dra. Susanna Alles Torrent (Universidade de Miami, co-editora) e a Dra. Élika Ortega (Universidade de Colorado-Boulder, co-editora) irão coordenar esta edição com os editores da Hispania.

Propostas escritas em inglês, espanhol e português serão consideradas para publicação. Com base na revisão editorial dos resumos recebidos, os artigos completos serão solicitados para revisão por pares.

Os resumos, de 350-500 palavras com uma bibliografia funcional (bibliografia não incluída no limite de palavras), deverão ser enviados, juntamente com um CV, para bfraser@aatsp.org até ao dia 1 de abril de 2020.

CFP: Hispania Special Issue - Digital Humanities in Spanish and Portuguese

Hispania, the official journal of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), invites the submission of original, unpublished manuscripts on Digital Humanities in Spanish and Portuguese.

This special issue of Hispania seeks to detail the intersections between Digital Humanities (DH) and Modern Languages (ML). Drawing on Matthew Kirschenbaum’s (2010) seminal article on DH and English departments and recent approaches including “critical DHML” (Pitman and Taylor 2017) and “global DH” (Galina Russell 2015), this special issue will address DH work in the fields of Iberian, Portuguese and Brazilian, Caribbean, Transatlantic Latinx, and Latin American Studies as related to theory and practice, methodological implications of practices, and/or experimental pedagogy. The volume aims to critically articulate interactions with the digital in order to highlight the broad spectrum of global approaches to DH and to offer new ways of engaging with research and teaching in (or about) Hispanophone, Lusophone, and immediate contexts. The special issue will also decipher how inter-, multi-, and transdisciplinary approaches to DH, both practical and theoretical, contribute to the long standing place and history of humanistic inquiry in these areas into the 21st century.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

• The impact(s) of digital scholarship and/or examples of digital projects
• Challenges and critical approaches to the hegemony of the English language in digital communications for (and from) research and teaching
• Teaching digital humanities courses in ML departments (skills, tools, methods)
• Challenges and case studies implementing DH methodologies in Hispanophone, Lusophone, and immediate contexts (distant reading, text mining, topic modeling, digital editing, mapping, visualization, etc.)
• The role of ML within the creation of general DH certificates at undergraduate and graduate levels
• DH and Community Engagement

Dr. Megan Jeanette Myers (Iowa State University, co-editor), Dr. Susanna Alles Torrent (University of Miami, co-editor), and Dr. Élika Ortega (University of Colorado-Boulder, co-editor) will curate this issue with the editors of Hispania.

As always, submissions written in English, Spanish, and Portuguese will be considered for publication. Based on editorial review of abstracts received, full articles will be requested for peer review. Please send abstracts of 350-500 words with a working bibliography (bibliography not included in the word limit) along with a CV to bfraser@aatsp.org by April 1, 2020.
