A revista Calidoscópio (ISSN 2177 6202, Qualis A2) recebe artigos alinhados ao tema "Conversation Analysis in Brazil and talk-in-interaction in Portuguese", até 31 de janeiro de 2021. Os textos podem ser redigidos em português, francês, inglês ou espanhol.

A Calidoscópio é uma publicação quadrimestral da Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), uma revista de Linguística Aplicada em seu sentido mais amplo, não restrito apenas a questões de ensino-aprendizagem de línguas. Sua missão é investigar problemas teóricos e empíricos de uso da linguagem nos mais diversos contextos sociais, reconhecendo e focalizando, justamente, a centralidade da linguagem para a busca de melhor entendimento e possíveis soluções para as questões estudadas.

O escopo da Calidoscópio se articula com o escopo da Linguística Aplicada assim entendida: uma área multidisciplinar cujo foco é a linguagem em funcionamento na sociedade. O conhecimento aí produzido se organiza e se identifica mais em função dos temas e dos contextos de investigação e aplicação do que em função das teorias e dos métodos usados para investigá-los. Por isso, a revista tem a denominação de Calidoscópio, metaforizando a concepção de que múltiplos prismas teóricos e metodológicos podem produzir, à semelhança de um calidoscópio, novas leituras e diferentes propostas sobre o uso da linguagem, resultantes de diferentes combinações dos diversos domínios do saber.

It has been now almost 20 years since the first studies of social interaction embracing the ethnometodological approach of Conversation Analysis (CA) were published by Brazilian scholars (e.g. Garcez, 2002; Gago, 2003; Ostermann, 2003) featuring Portuguese as a language of interaction. Whereas the field of Conversation Analysis has been rapidly expanding, publications focusing on social interactions in Brazilian settings or in Portuguese are still comparatively scarce.

This Special Issue of Calidoscópio grows out as a development of the 2017 AILA symposium “Innovations and challenges in Conversation Analysis” (Ostermann, 2017), which discussed the most recent developments and challenges in the Conversation Analysis field by bringing together researchers from a variety of countries and research interests in what concerns social interaction, among them, Lorenza Mondada, Marja-Leena Sorjonen, and Johannes Wagner. During that symposium, the Guest Editors of this special issue (also contributors to the panel), Ana Cristina Ostermann and Pedro de Moraes Garcez, presented an overview of the development of CA research in Brazil. Among a number of challenges they discussed were the applied linguistics agenda of CA studies in the Brazilian context, and the double bind Brazilian conversation analysts work in – i.e. addressing issues that are relevant to practitioners in the fields of activity where the talk-in-interactional data they study takes place while also creating and cultivating a discursive arena for their work within the discipline.

In an attempt to foster a more encompassing overview of the development of the field that goes beyond the Brazilian context, this Special Issue welcomes submissions of original studies that investigate social interactions from an ethnomethodological conversation analytic perspective (including papers within the scope of Interactional Linguistics) in any interactional setting in Brazil or featuring Portuguese as a language of interaction. Submissions – either in Portuguese or English – should follow the Calidoscópio guidelines for authors and use the submission model available at this link and be done directly on the journal website between November 1^st, 2020 and January 31, 2021.
