O Departamento de Antropologia Social da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Manchester está com candidaturas abertas para três vagas para pesquisadores associados para o novo projeto financiado pelo AHRC “Culturas do Antirracismo na América Latina”.
O projeto será realizado em colaboração com o Departamento de Estudos Espanhóis, Portugueses e Latino-Americanos e vinculado ao Centro Interdisciplinar de Estudos Latino-Americanos e Caribenhos.
As candidaturas selecionadas deverão realizar três meses de trabalho preparatório em Manchester, seguido por um longo período de pesquisa de campo na Argentina ou na Colômbia (cerca de 8-9 meses) ou no Brasil (cerca de 6 meses). O tempo restante será dedicado à análise e redação em Manchester.
É exigido um doutoramento (ou equivalente) em Antropologia Social, Estudos Culturais, Estudos Latino-Americanos ou em uma disciplina relacionada, bem como habilidades em análise cultural (por exemplo, textos, filmes, arte, música, etc.) e em coleta de dados sociais de dados em primeira mão (por exemplo, entrevistas), preferencialmente na América Latina.

We are looking for three talented Research Associates for the new AHRC funded project “Cultures of Antiracism in Latin America.”
You will be based in the Department of Social Anthropology in the School of Social Sciences, collaborating closely with the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and linked to the interdisciplinary Centre for Latin American and Carribean Studies.
You will be based at the University of Manchester, carrying out three months of preparatory work in Manchester, followed by an extended period of fieldwork research in either Argentina or Colombia (about 8-9 months) or Brazil (about 6 months). The remaining time will be dedicated to analysis and writing-up in Manchester.
You will have a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Social Anthropology or Cultural Studies, Latin American Studies or a related discipline. You will need to combine skills in cultural analysis (e.g. texts, films, art, music, etc.) and in social data collection (e.g. interviewing, participant-observation, tracing social networks of people and objects, including via social media, etc.). You will have experience of first-hand data collection (e.g. via interviews), preferably in Latin America. You will be fluent in Spanish or Portuguese, as appropriate. You will also have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
