A Faculdade de Letras e Ciências Humanas da Universidade de Macau divulga a abertura de candidaturas para o cargo de Chefe do Departamento de Português.

Requisitos de admissão e condições de elegibilidade:

  • Doutoramento em Literatura, Estudos Interculturais, Tradução ou Linguística Aplicada em área afim dos Estudos Portugueses;
  • Competência comprovada em gestão departamental, planejamento e comunicação, e capacidade de desempenhar um papel de liderança no Departamento;
  • Excelente histórico de pesquisa e estudos internacionalmente reconhecidos;
  • Experiência na supervisão de alunos de pós-graduação e um histórico comprovado de excelência no ensino;
  • Fluência em português nativo ou quase nativo e experiência no ensino das disciplinas acima mencionadas;
  • Bom domínio de inglês ou chinês.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Head of the Department of Portuguese.

 

The Department of Portuguese is an established and lively scholarly community that includes speakers of European Portuguese, Brazilian and other varieties of Portuguese. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers a bachelor’s degree programme focusing on Portuguese as a Foreign Language with selected courses in interpretation and translation, foreign language pedagogy, literary studies and history. The Department also provides Portuguese language courses for the Faculty of Law and elective courses in Portuguese as a foreign language for students from all faculties of the University. At the postgraduate level, the Department offers two MA programmes, namely MA in Portuguese Language and Intercultural Studies (with specializations in Literary and Cultural Studies and Applied Linguistics) and MA in Translation Studies (Portuguese-Chinese), and two PhD programmes, namely PhD in Applied Linguistics (Portuguese) and PhD in Literary and Intercultural Studies (Portuguese).

 

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have

  • A PhD in literature in Portuguese, Intercultural Studies, Translation or Applied Linguistics in a related area of Portuguese Studies.

  • Demonstrable competence in departmental management, planning and communication, and the ability to play a leadership role in the Department.

  • An outstanding record of internationally recognized research and scholarship.

  • Experience and success in supervising postgraduate students and a proven track record of excellence in teaching.

  • Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and the experience in teaching the above-mentioned subjects.

  • A good command of English or Chinese.

     

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2021.

 

Remuneration

Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
