VII Congresso Internacional sobre Estudos Afro-Hispânicos, Luso-Brasileiros e Latino-Americanos - ICALLAS

A Universidade de Gana, em Legon (Acra), sedia o VI Congresso Internacional sobre Estudos Afro-Hispânicos, Luso-Brasileiros e Latino-Americanos - ICALLAS, que terá lugar no centro de Línguas Modernas entre os dias 7 e 10 de agosto de 2020.
 
Os organizadores convidam para a apresentação de propostas de comunicação (resumo de 150 palavras) em Inglês, Espanhol ou Português, até ao dia 15 de abril de 2020.
 
Os trabalhos devem abordar assuntos relacionados aos povos de ascendência africana no mundo de língua portuguesa ou espanhola. Outras abordagens sobre os estudos latino-americanos relacionados ao mundo afro-hispânico também serão consideradas.
 
As áreas de investigação poderão incluir as seguintes disciplinas:

VII International Conference on Afro-Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and Latin American Studies (ICALLAS)
August 4-7, 2020 | Reginald Amonoo Building (Modern Languages Annex), University of Ghana, Legon (Accra)

The purpose of this conference is to build and sustain a dialogue among the various disciplines engaged in the study of issues related to Africa and the peoples of African ancestry in Brazil and the Spanish-speaking world. Whereas past ICALLAS conferences have focused on these two broad areas, French-speaking Caribbean communities are now being included in order to present a wider and more inclusive geographic representation within the framework of African descent. Initiated in 2007, the conference provides a framework for cross-disciplinary interactions and offers a forum for scholars from diverse fields of study related to the Afro-Hispanic world to share their research and scholarly endeavors. With a strong emphasis on camaraderie and networking, conference activities are geared toward promoting interpersonal exchange and social entertainment: an excursion to Kakum National Park, Cape Coast and Elmina; a Welcome Dinner Reception with cultural performance; a Closing Dinner Reception with live music and dance.

Call for Papers

The conference organizers are soliciting a 150-word abstract for papers in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.  Papers addressing matters regarding peoples of African ancestry in the Spanish-speaking, the Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking Caribbean worlds are welcome.  Broader questions in Latin American studies related to, but not limited exclusively to, Afro-Hispanics will also be considered.  For an abstract to be accepted, it must be engaging and clearly articulate the objectives of the paper to be presented.  Areas of inquiry could include the following disciplines:
