Internacional Congress
Tourism into the New Decade: Challenges and Prospects
Secção: The Role of Heritage in Cultural and Religious Tourism
(Braga, Porto, 26-29 June 2019)

Scope

This session aims to provide space for reflection and debate of papers focusing on Heritage and History. Tourism has contributed significantly to the appreciation of culture and heritage, enhancing its research and rejuvenation. Tourism creates products capable of attracting tourists interested in tangible and intangible heritage, fascinated by the culture of the peoples, their customs, festivals, traditions and memories, which perpetuate the past and which must be preserved. On the other hand, heritage and culture are also important tourist attractions themselves. This correlation is well present in Cultural and Religious Tourism, which has registered a very significant growth, also in terms of scientific production. Thus, in this session, researchers are invited to present their papers in the areas of tourism and heritage, seeking to highlight their contribution to the development of Cultural and Religious Tourism.
