Terá lugar no próximo dia 18 de janeiro, na delegação da Fundação Oriente em Goa, a conferência Study and preservation - Shared Heritage of Portuguese Origin Conference.

O evento é realizado no âmbito do projeto Old Goa Revelations: New Insights On The Vice-Roys Portrait Gallery, promovido pelos centros de pesquisa CIEBA (Universidade de Lisboa), Laboratório HERCULES (Universidade de Évora) e Laboratório José de Figueiredo (Direção-Geral do Património Cultural, Portugal) e financiada pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, em cooperação com o Archaeological Survey of India e a Fundação Oriente, uma equipa multidisciplinar de especialistas em estudos de património está atualmente a trabalhar em Goa. Aproveitando esta oportunidade, os integrantes do projeto pretendem discutir as experiências do estudo, interpretação e preservação do património comum de origem portuguesa em todo o mundo.

In the framework of OLD GOA REVELATIONS: NEW INSIGHTS ON THE VICE-ROYS PORTRAIT GALLERY, promoted by the Portuguese research centres CIEBA (University of Lisbon, Faculty of Fine-Arts), Laboratório HERCULES (University of Évora) and Laboratório José de Figueiredo (Portuguese Directorate of Cultural Heritage) and funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in cooperation with the Archaeological Survey of India and Fundação Oriente -  a team of experts in multidisciplinary heritage studies is currently stationed in Goa. Taking this opportunity, the participant researchers will discuss their experiences regarding the study, interpretation and preservation of shared heritage of Portuguese origin worldwide.

Dr. Fernando António Baptista Pereira (CIEBA/FBAUL)
Museology of far-eastern collections of Portuguese origin. Museums of Macau and Fundação Oriente.

Dr. Fernando António Baptista Pereira Historian (PhD) in Art Sciences and Techniques, specialized in Museology. Associate Professor in the Faculdade de Belas-Artes (Universidade de Lisboa) where he teaches Art History, Museology and Museography and Research methodologies. Former president of the scientific and pedagogic council of the same faculty and former President of the Centro de Investigações e Estudos em Belas-Artes (CIEBA). He coordinated several national and international museological and museographic projects, art catalogues and curatorship of several exhibitions with special emphasis in Setúbal, Macau, Oriente and Arte Antiga Museums.

During the last two years Dr. Fernando António Baptista Pereira he was nominated to the Portuguese Ministry of Culture (adjunct-minister).

Dr. António Candeias is a Chemistry Professor (PhD) at the Universidade de Évora, specialized in Chemistry applied to Cultural Heritage and Surface Chemistry. He is currently the Director of HERCULES Laboratory from the same university, the Scientific Coordinator of the portuguese laboratory for conservation and restoration (Laboratório José de Figueiredo) from the General Directorate for Cultural HEritage (DGPC- Direção Geral do Património Cultural) and the Director of the Joint Research infrastructure ERIHS.pt (Portuguese Platform of the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science) from the National Roadmap of Strategic Research Infrastructures.

Dr. Candeias is member of the National Council for Culture and vice-rector for research and development of Évora University and has been involved in the coordination of several research, educational and infrastructure projects.

Dr. Mónica Esteves Reis is an Art Historian and Cultural Heritage Manager (PhD) by University of Algarve, specialized in religious architecture in shared-heritage scenarios in the Indian subcontinent starting the 17th century, with over 10 years of research expertise, namely the study, artistic inventory, preservation assessment and requirements. Since 2011, Dr. Reis has been developing several research and learning programs with local institutions and communities (CRCH2011-Sensitization workshop towards conservation and restoration in cultural heritage and the Project Plan for the Preservation of the historic and artistic heritage of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. Integrated researcher of CHAM – Centre for the Humanities at FCSH/NOVA-Lisbon University, cooperates with several international and multidisciplinary projects related to shared heritage of Portuguese Origin, namely “Pensando Goa – uma peculiar biblioteca de língua portuguesa”, “De Artibus in Auream Goa” and “Old Goa Revelations”.

Dr. Reis is member of the Expert Database of International Council on Monuments and Sites, ICOMOS-INDIA and ICOMOS-Portugal since 2018 and 2016 respectively.

Conservator-Restorer Teresa Teves Reis is a conservator-restorer (MA) by Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (with curricular training at MOCA-Museum of Christian Art), Master in conservation and restoration of easel painting by Universidade Católica and currently a PhD student in Fine-Arts, in the Faculdade de Belas-Artes, from Universidade de Lisboa, supported by the doctoral scholarship HERITAS- Heritage Studies. The theme of her doctoral thesis is the Vice-Roys portrait gallery, the multidisciplinary approach in the study of the collection and current conservation challenges.

Together with the coordinators, she developed the project Old Goa Revelations: New insights on the Vice-Roys portrait gallery, with the support of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, for the in-situ study of the older paintings of this collection.
