O King's College London comemora no dia 8 de maio os 100 anos de Estudos Portugueses (1919-2019) nessa instituição.

O programa, composto por 4 painéis com a participação Helder Macedo, Thomas Earle, João Paulo Silvestre, Claudia Pazos Alonso, Maria Luisa Coelho, Ana Cardoso Pires, Francisco Bethencourt, Margarida Calafate Ribeiro, Isabel de Sena e José Blanco; irá reflectir sobre o apoio que a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian ofereceu ao departamento, particularmente no que diz respeito à colecção editada do trabalho de Jorge de Sena.

In the 1860s, King’s College pioneered the teaching of Portuguese in British universities and since the founding of the Camoens Chair in 1919 the college has become a leading centre for Portuguese studies.

Throughout this one-day symposium we shall remember the hard work and dedication of the professors, readers, researchers, creators and authors who have enriched and enlivened King’s College over the course of the twentieth century.

The panels will discuss the research into philology, literary criticism and historiography performed by the various Camoens Chairs. They will also discuss the involvement and influence of several Portuguese authors within the department, those who undertook writing residencies and those who taught. We will reflect upon the support that the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian has offered the department particularly with regards to the edited collection of Jorge de Sena’s work.
