O Departamento de Estudos Latinos e Latino-Americanos (LALS) da Universidade da Califórnia em Santa Cruz (UCSC) recruta um professor associado ou titular com foco nas migrações no Sul-Global, com início previsto para 1 de julho de 2018. Candidaturas abertas até 23 de outubro de 2017.

São especialmente bem-vindas abordagens inter e transdisciplinares nas Ciências Sociais e nas Humanidades, nos campos da Antropologia, Geografia, História, Literatura, Política, Sociologia, bem como nos dos Estudos Culturais, Étnicos, Raciais, Feministas, de Gênero, Latino-americanos, Mídia, Sexualidade e Estudos urbanos. 

O departamento está particularmente interessado ​​em candidatos cujo trabalho envolva a cultura popular, a mídia / mídia digital, a indigeneidade, as comunidades afrodescendentes e / ou as sexualidades dissidentes.

Requisitos de candidatura

  • Doutoramento ou equivalente em Ciências Sociais ou Humanidades;
  • Histórico demonstrado de pesquisa e ensino universitário.

É desejável experiência no ensino universitário, experiência administrativa e proficiência em espanhol, português ou em uma língua indígena das Américas.

Associate or Full Professor, South-South, Inter/Intraregional Migration

The Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a Full or Associate Professor (tenured) position focused on migration within the Global South.

We seek a scholar whose work on South-South, Inter/Intraregional Migration strengthens one or more of our Department’s substantive themes and contributes to emerging geographic and thematic areas.

We welcome inter- or transdisciplinary approaches in the Social Sciences and Humanities. We seek to recruit in the fields of Anthropology, Geography, History, Literature, Politics, Sociology, and Cultural, Ethnic, Critical Race, Feminist, Gender, Latin American & Latinx, Media, Sexuality, and Urban Studies. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work engages popular culture, media/digital media, indigeneity, Afro-descendant communities and/or dissident sexualities.

We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their research, teaching (including classroom), and service, and we encourage both domestic and international candidates to apply. The successful candidate will expand the research and curriculum profile of our recently launched doctoral program and will participate significantly in our undergraduate program. Candidates must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.

RANK: Full or Associate Professor
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in Social Sciences or Humanities field, or related field; demonstrated record of research, university teaching, and service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated record of excellence in research, publications, and extramural funding; demonstrated experience in university teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; administrative experience. Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or an indigenous language of the Americas
