É exigido um doutoramento em língua, literatura ou linguística portuguesa; ou em Literatura Comparada, linguística, tradução ou outras disciplinas relevantes com um foco significativo de pesquisa em materiais lusófonos; bem como fluência nativa ou quase nativa em português.

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey - New Brunswick invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Portuguese, to begin in fall 2019. Research specialization in any of the relevant disciplines (particularly in either literary and cultural studies, bilingualism and second acquisition, or translation and interpreting) will be considered. A PhD or equivalent is required in Portuguese language, literature, or linguistics; or in Comparative Literature, linguistics, translation, or other relevant disciplines with a significant research focus on Lusophone materials. The successful candidate will be dedicated to sustaining and building our longstanding Portuguese program. A strong research commitment and demonstration of excellence in teaching are required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Portuguese language and culture, and develop new courses that draw on the candidate's area of expertise. Native or near native fluency. Submit cover letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, publication or writing sample of up to 25pp, and recent (last 2 yrs) teaching evaluations to the attention of Professor Marcy Schwartz, Chair, no later than November 12.

Minimum Education and Experience

A PhD or equivalent is required in Portuguese language, literature, or linguistics; or in Comparative Literature, linguistics, translation, or other relevant disciplines with a significant research focus on Lusophone materials.
