Associate Tutor in Portuguese
Cardiff University - School of Modern Languages

Cardiff University is committed to preparing highly employable graduates whose knowledge, skills and broader experiences set them apart as flexible and mobile global citizens. A key enabler of our success in delivering this commitment is the provision of high quality, accessible language and intercultural awareness education, and the University has established a University-wide “Languages for All” programme which is open to all students undertaking Cardiff University degree programmes, and is delivered by the School of Modern Languages.

We are looking for suitably qualified individuals to teach Portuguese language to undergraduate and postgraduate students who have opted to study Portuguese as an extra-curricular course. You will teach accredited and non-accredited courses. You will be expected to give formative and summative feedback to your students. You will be given the course material which you will be expected to complement with your own material.

The posts are offered on a variable hours contract to start in September 2017 and are open-ended.

The delivery of teaching will take place between October and the end of June. Teaching will take place between 5pm and 9pm and possibly Wednesday afternoons as well as intensive day courses in January, and June.

Salary: £26,052 - £30,175 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 5). This equates to £13.70 to £15.87 per hour. For every teaching contact hour, 0.5 hours preparation, administration and marking is given.

Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who have the ambition to create a University which seeks to fulfil our social, cultural and economic obligation to Cardiff, Wales, and the world. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
