A bolsa Craig M. Cogut tem como objetivo selecionar um professor visitante para o ensino e a pesquisa no Centro de Estudos Latino-Americanos e do Caribe (CLACS) do Instituto Watson, da Universidade de Brown (Providence, RI, EUA). O prazo de candidaturas está aberto até 15 de outubro de 2017.

Os professores da bolsa Cogut ensinam um curso graduação sobre a América Latina por semestre, e reunem com alunos de graduação e pós-graduação. É possível se candidatar para um ou dois semestres. Os cursos podem ser ensinados em inglês, português ou espanhol.

A elegibilidade para assumir o cargo exige que o candidato possua um doutoramento em qualquer disciplina das ciências humanas e sociais e que seja (a) estrangeiro elegível para obter um visto J-1 ou (b) um cidadão ou residente dos EUA.

As candidaturas devem incluir:

1. uma carta de apresentação do candidato que indique sua área de especialização e o período de permanência proposto (um ou dois semestres e preferência de semestre, se vier para um);
2. um C.V. atualizado em inglês; e
3. o curso ou cursos propostos.

Opcionalmente, se o candidato tiver vínculos existentes com colegas da Brown, uma breve carta de apoio de um membro do corpo docente da CLACS também pode ser enviada separadamente para o centro.

Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professorship in Latin American and Caribbean Studies
2018-2019

The Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professorship brings leading scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean to Brown University to teach and conduct research. Visiting Professors are based at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. Cogut Professors teach one undergraduate course on Latin America per semester, meet with undergraduate and graduate students, and give presentations on campus through CLACS or affiliated units. The Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professorship provides a salary, an optional medical insurance package, a modest research fund, and administrative assistance. Appointments are possible for one or two semesters.

Eligibility to take up the position requires that the applicant hold a Ph.D. in any discipline in the humanities and social sciences and be either (1) a foreign national who is eligible to obtain a J-1 visa or (2) a U.S. citizen or resident.

Applications should include: (1) a letter of introduction from the applicant indicating his or her area of expertise and the proposed length of stay (one or two semesters, and preference of semester, if coming for one); (2) a current C.V. in English; and (3) the proposed course or courses that the Visiting Professor would like to teach with syllabi in English (though the course may be taught in English, Spanish or Portuguese). Optionally, if the applicant has existing ties to colleagues at Brown, a brief letter of support from a CLACS-affiliated Brown faculty member may also be sent under separate cover to CLACS.
