O Departamento de Espanhol e Português da Universidade de Arizona (EUA) realiza o seu 28.º Simpósio Anual sobre Cultura, Língua e Literatura Hispânica e Luso-Brasileira, que terá lugar nos dias 23 e 24 de fevereiro de 2018 em Tucson, Arizona, subordinado ao título: "Periphery at the Center".

A chamada para apresentação de propostas de trabalhos ou posters (250 palavras), e para propostas de painéis (100 palavras e um resumo para cada um dos 3-5 participantes), está aberta até o dia 31 de dezembro de 2017 (prazo prorrogado).
O Comité Simpósio irá considerar propostas de pesquisas em Literaturas, Língua e Culturas peninsulares e da América Latina. As áreas de interesse incluem, mas não estão limitadas a:
- Linguística: Língua e Variação em zonas de contacto, incluindo o espanhol nos EUA; Multi/Bilinguismo incluindo a Fonética, Fonologia e Sintaxe do espanhol ou português; Aquisição de L2, L3, Ln em Espanhol e Português ou por falantes de espanhol e português; Política Linguística; Linguagem e Identidade; Línguas patrimoniais nos EUA ou Pedagogias L2.
- Literatura: Humanidades Digitais; Contra-discursos e Movimentos Sociais; Género, Sexualidade e Representação; Política de identidade; Segurança das fronteiras; Línguas e culturas; Cinema; Memória; Estudos de Cultura; A diáspora africana na América Latina; Multiculturalismo.

Submission Deadline: December 31, 2017
Periphery at the Center
Linguistic: Applied linguistics, Heritage/second language pedagogy, Language program administration, L2/Ln acquisition, Phonology/phonetics, Morphology, Sociolinguistics, Syntax, Psycholinguistics, Any other area of Hispanic/Lusophone linguistics within any theoretical or quantitative/qualitative framework.
Keynote Speakers
Submission Deadline: December 31, 2017
— Abstracts for Presentations should be limited to 250 words.
— Panel Proposals for a group of 3-5 presenters should be limited to a 100 word abstract from each panel member.
Abstracts, presentations, and proposals can be delivered in Spanish, Portuguese, or English. Please submit 250- word abstracts, together with a title and a short biography to the Symposium Committee at spanport-symposium@email.arizona.edu
Posters will be displayed in a designated space at the Conference venue. Recommended dimensions for posters are A0 (33.1 x 46.8 in) or A1 (23.4 x 33.1 in).
Due to time and space constraints, only a combination of 70 presenters will be accepted. Acceptance will be confirmed by January 7 2018.
